Inclusive City Almere: Pilot Project by Disability Studies in Netherlands (DSiN), The City of Almere in the Netherlands, Windesheim Acadamy (2013-2014)

Aims to bring together multi-disciplinary insights to explore in depth the position, barriers and facilitators of disabled young people and the contemporary labour market. The network brings together leading researchers from the UK, US, France, Holland and the Czech republic from established experts and will take the form of formative and summative symposia (2013-2015).

"The current crisis is impacting negatively on those furthest from the labour market, both those who are inactive and the long-term unemployed, and those who were vulnerable prior to the onset of the recession such as the low skilled, people with disabilities or mental health problems.
Because of the sky rising unemployment rates of young people in most EU Member States there is clear need to target initiatives at young people and particular those who experience the double disadvantage of having a disability or health problem. Active inclusion with its emphasis on joined up actions across income support, inclusive labour market measures and access to social and health services can offer a useful way to address their needs.
In 11 EU Member States studies we are targeting on this vulnerable group of young people with disabilities that needs our attention and successful inclusion policies. "
